The action strategy game Dark Future: Blood Red States release date has been set. The game will launch via Steam on May 16th, having been through public beta testing not long back.

Dark Future: Blood Red States is a unique blend of action and strategy that takes place in Games Workshop's Dark Future setting. In the game's world, the government has vanished, and society is entirely dependent on "highway warriors" to enforce its flexible code of ethics and law. Players will control one of these highway warriors, heading out into the "Big Empty" to explore the land and take down packs of murderous thugs. The setting takes inspiration from various sources including Judge DreddMad Max, and Death Race 2000. Check out the launch trailer for Dark Future: Blood Red States below:

Gameplay-wise, Dark Future: Blood Red States revolves heavily around a feature that developer Auroch Digital calls "time dilation". Players can dramatically slow down the action to give detailed commands to their vehicle. Once time returns to normal, the vehicle will carry out the orders players have issued. Vehicles in Dark Future: Blood Red States can be customized with a wide and expansive range of weaponry. Players can attach ballistic artillery, hi-tech lasers, and deployable explosives to their vehicle, among other weapons. Different weapons can be combined to create varied loadouts, so players can approach different situations in a variety of ways.

Development on Dark Future: Blood Red States is being handled by British studio Auroch Digital. The studio is best known for Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics and Games Workshop adaptation Chainsaw Warrior. Auroch Digital is also publishing the game. Interested parties can wishlist the game on Steam right now ahead of Dark Future: Blood Red States release date on May 16th.
