Legendary developers of the Deponia series, Deadalic Entertainment, have announced their intention to reveal six brand new titles over the next few weeks. Although the studio is most famous for their development of adventure games they have made a name for themselves as a publisher of games in many different genres. The six new games will be from a broad variety of genres as well, ranging from classic adventure games, to survival MMO's.

In a statement released Wednesday (Feb 6) the CEO of Deadalic, Carsten Fichtelmann, said:

“2019 will be by far the most successful year in the history of our studio, we’ve never had a more diverse and substantial portfolio. We continue to build & move forward by diversifying our line-up with high-quality titles across different genres,”
Deadalic also claimed to be paying attention to the rise of 'games-as-a-service' trend which has been exploding in the industry over the past few years, and part of their new line-up will go reflect that. They were quick to assure fans of their adventure games that they were still going to be supported by the porting of their most popular adventure titles to consoles over the next year. The first two Deponia titles were both released on consoles more than a year ago, with the third title Goodbye Deponia seeing a release only last week.

Quick Take

Deadalic Entertainment has been a huge name in single-player adventure games for a long time. While the announcement of some hot, new IP's is always nice, the part of the release talking about 'games-as-a-service' is a little concerning. Hopefully, we won't see Deadalic shift focus onto a model which can be very susceptible to anti-consumer problems.
