Bethesda's take on microtransactions continues with the arrival of the Creation Club for Skyrim Special Edition. In August the Creation Club had already arrived for Fallout 4, following some controversy, with Skyrim SE now joining it on all platforms as well. All of these items require Credits in order to be obtained, which can be bought in set amounts.

  • 750 CC Credits - $7.99
  • 1500 CC Credits - $14.99
  • 3000 CC Credits - $24.99
  • 5500 CC Credits - $39.99

Below is a list of the first items made available for players to purchase and download with Skyrim Creation Club, along with the credits required.

Creation Club For Skyrim Special Edition Now Live Divine Crusader

Divine Crusader - 500 Credits

Knight Of The Nine items, includes heavy/light armor variants + two weapons. Now you, too, can wield the powerful equipment of the Divine Crusader, Pelinal Whitestrake - once reserved only for the revered Knights of the Nine.

The Knights of the Nine make a return from their appearance in the same named DLC in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, though the armor does look somewhat different from the one you'd earn at the end of said DLC.

Creation Club For Skyrim Special Edition Now Live Plague of the Dead

Plague of the Dead - 400 credits

In Skyrim, when the sun falls, the dead rise! Beat back the zombie hordes and retrieve valuable Mort Flesh.

This seems to either be a Horde Mode of sorts or, more likely, a mini zombie invasion of sorts where zombies can be found at night in specific locations.

Creation Club For Skyrim Special Edition Now Live Chrysamere

Chrysamere - 300 credits

Known as the Paladin's Blade and Sword of Heroes, this legendary claymore is imbued with powerful magic, like Fire Resistance, Spell Absorbtion, and devastating damage.

Creation Club For Skyrim Special Edition Now Live Ruins Edge

Ruin’s Edge - 400 credits

Wield this deadly dark bow, favored weapon of Syl, the Duchess of Dementia. Each arrow shot has the chance to cast a spell, like Paralyze, Silence, Demoralize or Frenzy.

Creation Club For Skyrim Special Edition Now Live Staff of Sheogorath

Staff of Sheogorath - 250 credits

Symbol of office for the Madgod Sheogorath, this grotesque staff has the power to stop opponents in their tracks.

Bethesda and the modders of their games can't seem to really agree on what the Staff of Sheogorath is supposed to do. Different effects have been attributed to it depending on whether a modder implements it, or what game does. A description that says it can "stop opponents in their tracks" seems painfully vague therefore.

Creation Club For Skyrim Special Edition Now Live Stendarrs Hammer

Stendarr’s Hammer - 200 credits

Rumored to have been wielded by Stendarr, the God of Righteous Might and Merciful Forbearance himself, this two-handed hammer will deliver devastation to any foe.

Creation Club For Skyrim Special Edition Now Live Arcane Archer

Arcane Archer Pack - 150 credits

Give your hunting a magickal advantage with equipment specially designed for archers, like Elemental Arrows, Soul Stealer Arrows and a unique power that equips a Bound Quiver.

Creation Club For Skyrim Special Edition Now Live Arcane Accessories

Arcane Accessories - 100 credits

From robes that grant spellcasting bonuses, to ancient tomes holding powerful spells like Paralysis Rune and Unbounded Frost, this pack will increase any mage's effectiveness.

You may have noticed by now that pretty much all of these items come with very little information besides what's provided up front, and the Arcane Accessories are no different. This leaves the thankless task to the players to discover the specifics behind these items for themselves. Thankfully, one steam user took it upon themselves to post screenshots of all the items they found at the end of the retrieval quest for this piece of content, shown in the gallery below.

Some users have expressed their disappointment with some of these skills, stating that most of them seem like nothing but glorified starter skills for new characters.

Skyrims Creation Club Launches in Beta With Survival Mode Survival Mode logo

Survival Mode - 800*

*This was free if you got it on the first week

Challenge yourself with new gameplay features that will transform Skyrim into a land of unrelenting cold and harsh wilderness. As a special bonus, Survival Mode will be available for free through October 10, 2017. For all the details, check out our in-depth look.

Covered before in the last news piece regarding Skyrim SE's Creation Club, Survival Mode incorporates several features designed to make the game harder, if not more challenging. Features such as hunger, fatigue and diseases.

One Reddit user pointed out something interesting as well, along with listing the prices seen above.

Sum total: 3100 credits, or roughly $31. Possibly more expensive in foreign territories.

Barrier of entry to buy everything: $38 to buy 3,000 + 800 credits, or $40 to buy 5,500 credits since the $30 only gives 3,000 credits. Keep in mind that everything requires a minimum $8 purchase, and that $8 only gets you 750 credits. So if you want Survival (after the free period), you have to pony up $15 for the 1500 credit pack which is twice what it's worth.

So you can either buy Survival + some armor and weapons, a few new spells, and zombie attacks for $40, or you can... buy SSE for $40. Or Dragonborn/Dawnguard at $20. Or even Fallout 4 for $30...

Obviously it's up to you if this stuff looks worth it, but the value seems really poor to me compared to the base games themselves. Everything is crazy overpriced, and Survival is the only thing available that is something new and unique.

While Bethesda seems prepared to stick with this business model from here on out, they did seem to have forgotten their own European fanbase who happen to have different keyboards than the Americans users do, posing them with a somewhat unique problem as well. Users suffering this issue are incapable of entering the @ character while prompted to enter an e-mail address before they can access the Creation Club. The user has suggested a workaround by temporarily changing one's keyboard to a different language that features the @ character on a readily pressed key, as opposed to most European keyboard where the user is required to hold Alt Gr or Shift.
