ConcernedApe publishing Stardew Valley might have been the plan from the beginning but he took on Chucklefish as a partner to make use of their expertise. Now the indie game developer will be taking over publishing duties from Chucklefish in the coming weeks according to a post on the game's developer blog.

Stardew Valley is a farming RPG where players have a great amount of freedom to explore the game's world. You can grow crops, raise animals, fish, fight monsters in the mine, and make friends with the villagers. The real appeal of the game is that you can do all of these things or none of these things and do it in your own way. I certainly loved the game and a heck of a lot of other people feel the same.

The game's core developer will be taking over publishing duties from Chucklefish on December 14, 2018, on most platforms. With ConcernedApe publishing Stardew Valley himself, he'll probably be getting a bigger cut of the profits from this point forward. Chucklefish will remain on board as the publisher for the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions of the game.

In addition to the news about ConcernedApe publishing Stardew Valley solo, Chucklefish has stated that the multiplayer patch for the Nintendo Switch version has been submitted to Nintendo. Hopefully it won't be too long before players on that platform can farm with their friends!

If you don't yet own one of the greatest games in recent years, you can pick up Stardew Valley on pretty much everything but your smart fridge. PC Gamers can grab it for the PC via Steamthe Humble Store, or GOG for $14.99 or your regional equivalent.  Console gamers can get it for the Nintendo SwitchXbox One, or PlayStation 4 at their respective storefronts and mobile gamers can get it for iDevices on iTunes.
