If you're a fan of Level-5's games, such as Dark Cloud or Rogue Galaxy, chances are you played the 2002 spiritual successor - Dark Cloud 2, or Dark Chronicle in Japan and Europe. Players can once again control the two protagonists, Max and Monica, as they make their way through the many towns and procedurally-generated dungeons in this action role-playing game played from a third-person perspective.

In the most recent episode of the Playstation Blogcast today, we got an announcement that many gamers have been waiting for since the rating of Dark Cloud 2 in Europe. The Playstation 2 Classic is officially coming to Playstation 4 consoles on the North American Playstation Store January 19th! Gamers may still be re-playing their way through the original Dark Cloud on PS4 still, but now they'll have one more great Playstation 2 Classic to enjoy again in the Playstation 4's emulation system.

If you haven't played either game, it's worth noting that the stories aren't connected, and although many of the mechanics are similar - Dark Cloud 2 is very much a different game. With a variety of new dungeons, new towns to re-build, a better weapon upgrade system, spheda (golf), and a really fun invention mechanic, Dark Cloud 2 is something everyone with a PS4 should be checking out when it releases. Other Playstation 2 Classics on Playstation 4 have released at $14.99.

Quick Take

I'm hyped! I still have notebooks full of ideas and checklists for the invention system laying around here somewhere, and I can't wait to run around snapping pictures of everything and everyone as I seek to create the greatest items and weapons on my journey. As much as I love the original game, and can gush about it, Dark Cloud 2 is another experience I fondly remember playing for hours on end alongside the Mega Man Legends series, and Final Fantasy. If you haven't played this game before, PLEASE do! You're welcome to yell at me if I'm wrong!
