First person rogue-lite City of Brass is getting a re-release, this time on the Nintendo Switch.

City of Brass is a rogue-lite styled first-person game where players must traverse a magical city filled to the brim with zombies, djinn and other deadly enemies. Players have the ability to use a whip to attack, swing and even set traps on enemies, plus a myriad of other weapons, potions and magical relics that they can collect to upgrade their character for the fight ahead.

The game, inspired by the classic Arabian Nights tales, was originally developed by Uppercut games and released in 2018 to strong reviews. Uppercut games, former members of the BioShock development team, have since been updating the game slowly on PC and other consoles, adding three new unlockable characters, and additional relics, enhancements and other in-game improvements in large content packs over the latter half of 2018. In total, eight content updates have been made to the game since its launch.

The full version of City of Brass, complete with these content updates, will be released on the Switch as a complete package on February 8th, 2018. The game is confirmed to be on the Nintendo E-shop at least, with no physical copy planned or shown at this time.

City of Brass is already available for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Quick Take

City of Brass was always a game that intrigued me, mainly because of its stylish, Arabian Nights theme mixed in with the rogue-lite play. It looked fast, well polished, and per the review we gave it on TechRaptor, a lot of fun to play.

I haven't picked up a copy of the game yet, though I may actually purchase it for the Switch. Since it contains all of the current content in one package it's a good jumping in point, plus the pickup and play style may fit better for the semi-mobile capabilities of the Switch system.
