Colossal Order has announced a new expansion for its popular city builder Cities: Skylines. This update, titled Mass Transit, will add a range of new infrastructure options that will allow you to design a public transport system like never before!

As you can see in the trailer above, Mass Transit introduced a bunch of new ways you can use to ferry your citizens from one point to the next. Ferries will allow your underlings to cross a body of water like nobody’s business, or they can take a day trip to the top of the nearest mountain in one of the new cable cars! If that’s not enough for you, why not offer your citizens a tour of your city while flying a blimp or by riding one of your city’s new monorails?

With new transit service buildings, mass transit hubs where lines can exchange passengers, new scenarios, new landmarks, and new road types, Mass Transit will provide veteran players of Cities: Skylines with more choices and options to personalize their cities than ever before.
These mass transit hubs serve as a hub where all of your public transport lines can come together, making it easy for your citizens to use your city’s public transport system under one roof. This expansion needs you to rethink your city’s road plan to get the most out of it in a series of challenges meant to test your mettle as an urban designer. You’ll have access to new types of roads and canals, as well as new buildings and bridges. There are also new hats for Chirper, the Twitter stand-in most people switch off with a mod about 20 minutes into a new game.

Cities: Skylines – Mass Transit is set to release for PC (and MacOS and Linux) at some point later this year. When it releases, players who didn’t buy the expansion will still be able to benefit from some of the features as part of a free update for anyone who owns the base game or any of the other expansions.

What do you think of this announcement? Are you excited to try out the new features? Let us know in the comments!

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
