Popular Call of Duty map Nuketown will be making a return to Black Ops 4, but not quite how you remember it. The map, which originated in the first Black Ops, will be getting a distinct overhaul.
The map was originally based on Cold War-era test sites for nuclear weapons, but it has been re-imagined into a nuclear testing site now set in the icy, unforgiving winter climate of Chernobyl. The map sits atop an underground missile bunker, although it's not clear what will trigger the missile to launch. Perhaps just the end of the game, as has been the case for previous Nuketown iterations.
As with all Black Ops 4 content, the map will launch first on PlayStation 4, before joining PC and Xbox One in a week. The map is free for all players.
Nuketown has seen a couple of iterations over the years, including a futuristic version in Black Ops 3, but nothing as dramatic as this. I've played a lot of Nuketown over the years and I barely recognize this as the same map.

Our review calls Black Ops 4 "the best the series has been in a long time", read it here.
Quick Take
This looks to be a cool re-design of a map that's been used to death at this point. Free maps are always nice, and this should give me a good excuse to play some more Black Ops 4. I hope Treyarch do more stuff like this. WWII had some free seasonal maps and some of them seemed pretty cool, but WWII was just a real bummer all-round. Shame I'll have to wait a week for it to come to PC, though. What do you think? Do you like the re-design? Will you be playing it? Let us know in the comments!
