CD Projekt Red, developer of The Witcher series of games and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077is auctioning off a giant statue of The Witcher 1-3 protagonist Geralt to raise funds for charity according to a news post on their website. An accompanying YouTube video was posting that gives a good sense of size for the statue:

The statue itself can be viewed on the auction page. It weighs over 100 kilograms (over 220 pounds) and is over 2 meters (6 feet 6 1/2 inches) tall. The statue was formerly a display in the headquarters of CD Projekt Red depicts Geralt fighting a Noonwraith - a terrible monster from Slavic folklore. Noonwraiths are women who were murdered shortly after being married and lead men to their death by using their charms and can be fought in Witcher 3.

CD Projekt Red will ship the statue to anywhere in Poland for free, but an international winner will be responsible for any shipping costs outside of Poland. Considering how large the statue is, international shipping will probably be quite expensive and the winner would almost certainly want to have the shipment insured. However, this isn't going to be a bargain deal - there's 18 days remaining in the auction at the time of this writing and the auction is already up to over 10,000 Zloty (about USD$2,586.00/€2,356.00).

Proceeds of the auction will be going towards supporting The Great Orchestra Of Christmas Charity. Specifically, the charity is working towards providing new equipment for both children's hospitals as well as senior care. Their services also include a program to purchase insulin pumps for pregnant diabetic women and diabetic children as well as instructing teachers in the methods of CD Projekt Red so that they can pass the information on to their students.

Quick Take

I was born in America, but half of my ancestry is Polish. It's a point of national pride to see that one of the finest RPGs (and arguably one of the finest settings) ever developed not only sprung forth from a Polish series of novels but was also made by a Polish game developer. My ancestral homeland (well, one of them) has had a tough time recovering from the economic collapse after the fall of the Soviet Union, and it's lovely to see Poles coming together to help children and seniors get sorely needed medical supplies. Polan stronk!

How much would you pay for a giant statue of Geralt fighting a Noonwraith? Do you even have room in your home for this colossal work of art by CD Projekt Red? Let us know in the comments below!
