Cyberpunk 2077

The CD Projekt Group held its 2016 financial results conference last week and, along with discussing how 2016 went, revealed some interesting bits of information about what the future of the developer looks like. Most of what was talked about was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Gwent and how well they were doing, but CD Projekt RED studio head Adam Badowski talked about Cyberpunk 2077 and its development as well.

Badowski stated that Cyberpunk 2077's development was "quite advanced." and that "It's a new title for us, and it will accompany us for years, so it takes effort to prepare it properly." Despite it's "advanced" stage of development, the company was quick to add that the game was still not close to release. CD Projekt President Adam Kiciński adding, "The ambitions are very voracious, so we would like to devote a lot of attention to Cyber, a lot of effort, and quite some time. So we still need some time before the game is ready."  Kiciński also expressed frustration at not being able to give any concrete details about Cyberpunk 2077 saying, "So it's not a comfortable situation because we know what it's like, we watch the game, but we can't tell you anything."

Besides Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED discussed that they are forming a team to work on another game that they will be developing at the same time. Unfortunately, they did not give any details whatsoever on this mystery game, so we'll have to play the waiting game for the time being.

Another topic that was touched on was the continuation of the Witcher series. While Kiciński didn't confirm, or really even hint, that they were working on anything Witcher related, besides Gwent. He had this to say:

The Witcher was designed as a trilogy. Trilogy cannot have a fourth part, however we like that world very much. We have invested 15 years of our lives and loads of money into it and we will probably think about it at some point. But please consider us as rational people, we sometimes have weird ideas, but overall our thinking is very rational.

So, as of right now they are not currently working on anything new with The Witcher, and they look to be done with the familiar parts of the series, but they are interested in continuing exploring that world.

What do you think the mystery game CD Projekt RED are working on might be? Does Cyberpunk 2077 pique your curiosity? What new take on The Witcher's world would you like to see? Let us know in the comments below!
