The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will see the store shelves this May. The developers promised a huge open world to explore filled with places to explore and quests to complete. Apparently, that was not enough for CD PROJEKT RED that today announced that two full expansions for the game are in the works and already available to be purchased.

The two expansions will be called "Hearts of Stone" and "Blood and Wine". They will release this October and during the first quarter of 2016 respectively. So if you expected a Day one DLC or a pre-order bonus, you can breathe a sigh of relief. It looks like there will be none of that in The Witcher 3 if the words of Marcin Iwiński, CD PROJEKT RED co-founder, are to be believed:

We remember the time when add-on disks truly expanded games by delivering meaningful content. As gamers, we’d like to bring that back. We’ve said in the past that if we ever decide to release paid content, it will be vast in size and represent real value for the money. Both our expansions offer more hours of gameplay than quite a few standalone games out there.

That last phrase seems not to be an exaggeration judging by their description of the expansion packs. Hearts of Stone is supposed to add 10 hours of gameplay to The Witcher 3 with a new questline that will take place in the wilds around Oxenfurt. Blood and Wine will take place in a all-new region called Toussaint and is supposed to give you 20 more hours of gameplay. Both the expansions will add new characters, gear and all that you would expect from expansion packs of that size.

If you pre-ordered the game and can't wait to buy the expansions, you can buy the Expansion Pass right away in order to play them as soon as they come out. There's no reason to hurry as Iwiński himself says:

While we’re offering the Expansion Pass now,we want to make one thing clear: don’t buy it if you have any doubts. Wait for reviews or play The Witcher and see if you like it first. As always, it’s your call

That's good advice right there. Be assured that we here at TechRaptor will do everything we can to give you all the needed information the soon as possible to help you make an informed decision.

The expansions will be available for Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4.
