This morning a new firmware update for the Nintendo Switch dropped bringing a variety of highly requested features to the platform, and even implementing some that have got players excited. This update is version 4.0.0 and if you don't have it yet, but want to download it by going to the Settings menu, selecting the System option, and pressing "System Update."

Nintendo Switch System Update

With the 4.0.0 update players can now hold down the Screenshot button in certain games to capture a video of the previous 30 seconds of gameplay. This feature is similar to the one currently available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. As with Screenshots, these can then be shared directly to Facebook and Twitter. At this point in time, the feature is only available for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms and Splatoons 2.

While cloud saves have still not been implemented Nintendo has now created the option to transfer profile and save data between consoles. While this might not be a solution for those who have a completely broken or lost/stolen Switch but for those wanting to swap they now can. This process also happens per user so if your partner has been using your Switch and you finally manage to find the one to purchase you can transfer specifically their information.

The ability to pre-purchase/pre-load titles has been implemented on the eShop. This means for select future games players will be able to download them to their system before they launch. Once release time rolls around you'll then be able to start playing your game immediately. The news channel has also received an overhaul giving you the ability to follow/unfollow channels if you don't care about missing out on that news.

If you want to check out the full list of features and fixes that are available in version 4.0.0 of the Nintendo Switch software you can head to the Nintendo Support page.

Are you happy to see some of these additional features on the Nintendo Switch? Are there any features you think the Switch is in need of?
