Released on August 31, 2015 in Japan, Dragon's Dogma Online is the sequel to the massively popular Dragon's Dogma and it's updated re-release, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. Despite having a massive following in the west - and many petitions for Capcom to bring the game overseas - the free-to-play MMORPG remains a Japan exclusive for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.

However, for overseas fans who have been waiting to hear some acknowledgement of their requests, it seems Capcom may have been paying close attention.

In Capcom's 2016 annual report, released on September 12, 2016, director Kento Kinoshita discusses Dragon's Dogma Online and the challenges he and the rest of his development team faced in designing the MMORPG, as they had no experience with online development. On Page 54, Kinoshita discusses the recently released Season Two of the game and the future of Dragon's Dogma Online, stating that:

We released version 2.0 in June 2016 (the first stage of Season Two), but are moving ahead without a break to simultaneously create the Season Three framework. The world of online games spreads ever outward. Once we have established a solid foundation in Japan, I’d like to consider bringing this game overseas, where there are a great many online game players.

While Kinoshita doesn't flat-out say that Capcom will be bringing (or has current plans to bring) the MMORPG overseas, the director expressing interest like this is never a bad thing and at least shows the company is paying attention to their userbase.

For our readers who are interested in playing the Japanese version of Dragon's Dogma Online, online retailers such as PlayAsia carry the game for sale and shipment.
