Activision have announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered - previously only available with the purchase of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - will be releasing as a standalone PS4 game, on Tuesday June 27th. Physical copies will be available from game stores alongside digital copies on the PlayStation Network. This release is set to follow on other consoles, at an unspecified future date (though it is already available on Steam).

An enhanced version of 2007's beloved Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare Remastered sports enhanced graphics and detail, improved audio, and enhanced animation. Players will be able to relive the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare single-player storyline, with the entire campaign having made the jump into the next generation. Fan-favourites Sgt. Price, Soap McTavish, and Gaz will be returning to duty once again, along with the single-player experience that shaped the course of the franchise to come. Players will also be able to revisit Call of Duty 4's famed multiplayer mode, with 16 maps from the original coming to Modern Warfare Remastered. Unfortunately, the additional Modern Warfare Remastered Variety Map Pack will not be available with the purchase, but will be available as extra DLC.

In addition to the above release, players will also be able to take part in a five-day seasonal event - the Call of Duty "Days of Summer". Also beginning on June 27th, the event spans multiple titles in the Call of Duty franchise. Activision has promised a splendor of fun for fans of the series, and Days of Summer will feature various giveaways, new XP events and playlists across all of the included titles - including a summer-themed map for Modern Warfare Remastered. We will likely learn which Call of Duty titles will be taking part in the celebration on June 27th, when the event releases.

Does this re-release of Modern Warfare Remastered get you champing at your muzzle sights, or have you cooled off on Call Of Duty since Call of Duty 4's heyday? We'd love to hear your opinions in the comments below.
