The brand new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta has gone live and many players have spent a fair amount of time putting the game through its paces. Unfortunately, it seems like a glitch may have accidentally revealed that the much-maligned loot box system from previous titles will once again be making its way to the series post-launch. Twitter user, @LegacyKillaHD posted a screenshot of the game's 'After Action Report' screen which featured a supply drop segment in the bottom left corner, with the word 'Lootbox', right above showing off the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare loot box system.

The previous Call of Duty title, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 courted some considerable controversy when loot box mechanics were included in the game post-launch, preventing reviewers from including the micro-transactions in their scores or write-ups. After some players voiced their concerns surrounding micro-transactions in Modern Warfare, the senior communications manager for Infinity Ward posted to Reddit saying 'Please be patient. We hear you. And we'll share more as we get closer to launch."

Regardless of the Reddit post, it seems like the micro-transaction cat is out of the bag. Many Twitter users claimed that they have canceled their pre-orders, while others encouraged gamers to 'vote with their wallets' and not purchase the game to show displeasure at the inclusion of loot boxes. Others were more optimistic, claiming that the loot boxes may only supply players' with cosmetic items and not better weapons or perks. For now, it seems like we'll have to wait for a response from Activision or Infinity Ward before we know more. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta is currently ongoing and the full game is expected to release on October 25th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

What do you think of the planned Call of Duty: Modern Warfare loot box system? Will you be boycotting the game? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
