Call of Duty fans will certainly have something to look forward to in the coming weeks: PEGI has released a (now-removed) rating for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. An improved version of the second Modern Warfare campaign has been rumored for some time, but this is the first hints that we've had of anything of the sort actually making its way to market.

Charlieintel managed to snap a screenshot of the rating:

And here's the description:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered

Activision Blizzard UK Ltd

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is a combat simulation game in which the player takes the roles of various members of a Special Operations team attempting to thwart the plans of a Russian...

System: PlayStation 4

Release Date: 28/02/2019

Obviously, the release date of February 28, 2019, is in error as we don't yet have our hands on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.

A report of Activision Blizzard financials stated that we would see the return of a Call of Duty campaign sometime this year. One critical portion of the conference call strongly hints at a remastered game:

"I'll first go through the segments including slate to provide some context for the outlook starting with Activision. The main driver for the segment will be the Call of Duty franchise. Heading into 2019, we have momentum to build on given the launch of Black Ops 4 with the franchise yet again number one globally in upfront sales in 2018. We will continue to optimize in-game content this year to drive ongoing engagement and player investment. And in Q4, we will have another major launch for the franchise that will appeal broadly to both existing and new fans with what I can only describe now as a great step forward in the franchise that is also rooted in some of the franchise's most important history. We have high expectations for the game, but for modeling purposes, we are conservatively planning on upfront Q4 unit sales to be lower than Black Ops 4." -Dennis Durkin, Activision Chief Financial Officer & President, Emerging Businesses
The bit about the launch that will "appeal broadly to both existing and new fans" is a strong hint to the game that popped up thanks to a stray PEGI listing.

What isn't clear is whether or not you'll need to buy the next mainline Call of Duty game to get your hands on Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. The first remaster of a Modern Warfare came was only available to people who purchased Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare; it didn't get a standalone release until some time later.

Another important thing to point out is the heading of the listing: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. A rumor from March of last year stated that this rumored game would just be a campaign without any multiplayer functionality and would consequently be launching at a lower price.

A lot is still unclear about the situation including the game's price (rumored to be around $25) and its release date (probably at the end of the year, like always). We'll keep our eyes open for more details on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. This is part of what Activision-Blizzard is viewing as a transitional year with fewer releases as per their SEC filing.
