Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered are releasing for PC and Current Gen consoles next week but it seems that the two titles will also be releasing for Windows 10. It was first shown that Windows 10 versions of the game would be releasing when WindowsCentral noticed it on the Windows 10 Storefront, prior to this there had been no word from Activision about a Windows 10 version of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

At first, this was seen to be a mishap on the storefront assuming that the Xbox One version appeared on the wrong store but with no mention of the Xbox One on the page and the "Available On" heading only listing PC it seems that it is intended. There was no word after that from Activision on the legitimacy of this posting but questions relating to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare appeared shortly after on the Activision Support page. The two big questions on that support page were the following:

Can I play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for Windows 10 on Windows Store with my friends that are playing on Xbox One? Can I play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for Windows 10 on Windows Store with my friends that are playing on another PC platform?

The answer to both of these questions is No. Both Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered for Windows 10 will be playable with only other Windows 10 players.

A source told WindowsCentral that "the decision to segregate Windows 10 Store and Win32 PC platform players is entirely on Activision. There is nothing about the UWP toolset that prevents cross-play functionality, as seen with CD Projekt RED's upcoming GWENT card game." An official Microsoft spokesperson then told them "We support cross-play between devices and platforms for partners who want to enable it."

We have reached out to Activision for a comment on the incompatibility of the multiplayer and will update the story as we learn more.

What do you think about Steam players not being able to play with Windows 10 players? Would it make it better if Windows 10 players could play with Xbox One? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
