The fan-favorite Call of Duty multiplayer map NUKETOWN is set to return to the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (stylized as NUK3TOWN), but not in the way that prospective players expected it to be.
Players in UK assumed that the NUK3TOWN map would be included in their preordered version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. The official Activison site flat-out states that the map would be available to anyone who preorders the game on PC and current-gen platforms. Last-gen platforms won't be getting the map.
The game has a few different versions that are specific to certain stores. Players who preorder the Xbox One version of the game will receive a $10 dollar Microsoft Store card, Gamestop gives you a couple of posters and Steam gifts you two copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to send to your friends. Players who order the digital version of the game or any of the collector's editions will also be getting access to the Nuketown Customization Pack which contains themed items and skins.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is scheduled to be released tomorrow on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The last-gen version of the game will be stripped down compared to the current-gen and PC versions. The last-gen versions will ship without the singleplayer campaign, with the weapon paint shop also conspicuous in its absence.
Quick Take
This is bad news for anyone in the UK who decided to preorder a physical copy of the game at any other store than GAME, which is likely if you don't live in the UK. The way Activision phrased the NUK3TOWN announcement is very easily misconstrued and the clarification probably came a bit too late to cancel preorders so you can order one that includes the NUK3TOWN map.
