After 2008's Burnout Paradise, EA seemingly gave up on the beloved arcade racing series. Although last year's Burnout Paradise Remastered attempted to sate fans' appetites, it only served to further demand for a brand-new Burnout game, or at least something that would scratch that same itch.

Thankfully, the team over at Three Fields Entertainment feels your pain. Dangerous Driving is their unapologetic spiritual successor to Burnout. It launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Store exclusively on April 9.

Three Fields was founded in 2014 by Criterion founders Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry. They were with the studio from its inception to 2014, when EA moved Criterion off the Need for Speed series. Over the last five years, the studio has put out a number of games, including Dangerous Golf, Lethal VR, and Danger Zone 1 and 2 .

Dangerous Driving promises to be a faithful successor to the Burnout series. The trailer promises intense, high-speed races with nitro boosts and lethal crashes.

Takedown races, Eliminator, and Road Rage modes. They're all here. There's a Pursuit Mode, too. The game also supports online multiplayer for up to eight players.

Dangerous Driving comes out on PC via the Epic Games store (there's no mention of Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One priced at $29.99.

Quick Take

I'm a big fan of Burnout's particular brand of high-speed arcade racing. Burnout 3 is one of the greatest racing games ever made, but I'm skeptical about Dangerous Driving. Danger Zone was a pretty major disappointment, however. Here's hoping Dangerous Driving comes out better. Bring on April 9th!
