With the announcement of the Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition remaster, you might be wondering if the remastered version will be given away freely to players who own the original game. Well, as the title already sort of answer that question; you'll have to buy the remastered edition if you want to play the game with updated graphics.

This news comes from Peter Glakowski over on Destructoid, who contacted Gearbox's Randy Pitchford with this question and got back a rather blunt reply:

As you can see in this other tweet from Randy Pitchford, selling the game at a discount for owners of the original is apparently pretty much impossible due to the original publisher of the game being a completely different company. While this might seem surprising due to the free remasters PC players got (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and Bioshock: The Collection spring to mind), these have been nice gestures by the developers more than anything else. Another Twitter user brought up the fact that the new Darksiders: Warmaster Edition is being released to owners of the original PC game for free, with the user inquiring why this can't be done for Bulletstorm:

Then again, Gearbox shouldn't feel like they're supposed to release the update for free.

If you want to go back and play Bulletstorm you can get it on various websites for ridiculously cheap, whereas the remaster will be an almost full-priced ($50) release despite it being a 6-year old game at this point.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is scheduled to release at some point in April of next year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms. The remaster boasts improved textures over the original and a higher polygon count, as well as support for 4K resolutions on the PC and PlayStation 4 Pro. If you decide to preorder the remaster you will also gain the ability to play the game as Duke Nukem, who replaces the game's protagonist, including some new voiced lines.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
