Blizzard has announced the next team for the Overwatch League - the Boston Uprising.
The Boston Uprising will be playing competitive Overwatch in colors taken from the blue & yellow of Boston's city flag. The name is rather appropriate considering we Americans did an awful lot of rabble-rousing in and around the Boston area. (No word if Soldier:76 will get an emote where he dumps tea in a harbor.) The team is owned by Robert and Jonathan Kraft of The Kraft Group, a holding company for the family's various financial interests. This isn't the family's only foray into sports - they own the New England Patriots, Gillette Stadium, and a number of other interests in the sports world.
As with the other teams, the Boston Uprising will show up to the Overwatch League in style with a custom skin for one of the game's heroes. The super soldier repping the boys from Boston is Soldier:76 himself. His skin is primarily blue with yellow accents, and black features heavily as a secondary color.
A recent trademark filing spoiled three other team names in advance of their official announcement – the Los Angeles Gladiators, the New York Excelsior, and the Miami Mayhem. The preseason kicks off on December 6, 2017, and the inaugural season of the Overwatch League begins on January 10, 2018.
