Blizzard has announced their project that has come to be known as "Titan" has been cancelled. While Titan was never officially announced, we have all known something was in development with tidbits being released here and there. What we "knew" most about Titan was that it was supposedly going to be more "casual friendly" to the dismay of many fans.

This may not be too entirely surprising considering that Blizzard went back to the drawing board last year to reevaluate what Titan was going to be.

Mike Morhaime, Blizzard CEO, announced the Titan's demise in an interview with Polygon. Here are some highlights of what he had to say:

We had created World of Warcraft, and we felt really confident that we knew how to make MMOs. So we set out to make the most ambitious thing that you could possibly imagine. And it didn't come together. We didn't find the fun. We didn't find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that's the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no.
Polygon has spoke to Chris Metzen, the senior vice president of story and franchise development, about the news as well. This is what he had to say in regards to making a second MMO:
Is this really who we are? Is this really what we want? Is this really what we want to burn our passion and our work lives, our careers on, for years on end? Are we the MMORPG company?
Morhaime chimed in saying that Blizzard doesn't want to be defined by one genre, and near the end of the interview both suggested that the creation of Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm played a role in the decision of cancelling Titan. That the smaller, more focused games might be a route Blizzard explores further in the future.

But, they also didn't rule out doing an MMO again in the future. It just seems Blizzard would need to find the passion for that. Apparently what they had created for Titan was just not fun or engaging enough. What does that mean? That is anybody's guess at the moment unless Blizzard decides to release information on Titan. Was the story not fun? The gameplay? Both? It would be neat to get some info on what they were planning and why they scrapped it.
