Quick, what is Blizzard known for? Most people will think of their games, mostly their three famous series, Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft, and their recent multiplayer shooter Overwatch. Today Blizzard is diving into something different with the announcement of Blizzard Publishing, a book label that will be republishing older books based on their games while offering up new books as well.

To start off this new publishing label, Blizzard is reprinting three of its older Warcraft books, a pair of Warcraft manga, and a new coloring book. The following three books will be getting republished:

  • Warcraft: The Last Guardian, by Jeff Grubb
  • Warcraft: Lord of the Clans, by Christie Golden
  • World of Warcraft: Rise of the Horde, by Christie Golden

Besides that, Warcraft Legends: Volume One and Warcraft Legends: Volume Two, two mangas with stories by Richard A. Knaak, Dan Jolley, Jae-Hwan Kim, and Aaron Sparrow, will also be getting republished. Finally, Blizzard will be publishing the all-new World of Warcraft Adult Coloring Book, which features over 80 concept art, sketches, and other pictures for fans of Warcraft to color in. At present, Blizzard Publishing is also working on two more coloring books: Art of Heartstone and Cinematic Art of Starcraft.

The books can be purchased on Blizzard's website. The World of Warcraft Adult Coloring Book is currently selling for $12.95, while each of the three books is $14.95.

Quick Take

A few years ago I picked up a Nook and started really getting into reading, and one of the first things I searched for was a series of Warcraft books my friend insisted was fantastic. Unfortunately, they weren't available as no one really bothered to bring them to digital media. While I'm still holding out for Day of the Dragon to show up, it's really nice to see Blizzard taking steps towards getting their books openly available again and I'll gladly be reading them when they come out.
