Are you ready to kick some robot behind? Blazing Chrome launches on July 11th for PC and consoles.

Creators JoyMasher and The Arcade Crew describe Blazing Chrome as an "enemy infested run-and-gun platformer". It takes heavy inspiration from Contra and Metal Slug. You'll take control of one of the few humans left in a world taken over by machines. Your rebel group hears about a big AI power plant and heads out on a suicide mission to destroy it. You can play as human resistance soldier Mavra or insurgent robot Doyle, as well as two extra hidden characters. Check out the trailer for those new characters here:

These two look like they're probably references to Ninja Gaiden and Bionic Commando. Suhaila has a robotic arm and the ninja Raijin is able to dash and use his katana. The devs say this opens up a whole new combat experience in the game. Whoever you decide to choose, you'll get a helping of classic 2D sidescrolling action in Blazing Chrome. The devs promise local co-op gameplay across five apocalyptic levels, as well as a host of bosses and minibosses to battle. You'll unlock plenty of special weapons with which to dispatch your enemies, too. JoyMasher says you'll use "hoverbikes, huge armors and a whole arsenal of kick-ass weapons" in Blazing Chrome. Doesn't get much better than that, eh?
