BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle (our review) is getting ready for some new fighters to join their robust roster with the new BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle DLC.

The game, developed by Arc System Works, is a team-up fighting game featuring popular characters from BlazBlue, along with Atlus' Persona Arena series, RWBY, and Under Night In-Birth. The game currently features a large roster of 40 characters, with 20 characters added over the past year as DLC.

Arc System Works and PQube, the publisher of the game in Europe, have just announced the first crop of  characters to be added to Cross Tag Battle for season 2. In total four new characters to be added to the roster in what is called Update 1.5, each of them from a different franchise.

This includes BlazBlue's Naoto Kurogane, Teddie from Persona 4, Seth the Assassin from Under Night In-Birth, and introducing a new franchise into the mix, the character Heart Aino from Arcana Hearts, a fighting game series developed by Examu that is mostly only available in Japan.

NIS America has released trailers of the new characters in action on YouTube, showing off the movesets and traits of each character.

In addition, these characters will be released for free for owners of the games Deluxe Edition (or Arcade Edition) which is currently planned to be released later this month on May 21st. Other players will be able to purchase the characters as normal when they are released with Update 1.5 of the game. It is unknown if Arc System Works will set up a new All-in-One Combo pass for the next season, of if the new characters will be included in the current pass.

Update 1.5 will also reduce the price of the standard edition of Cross Tag Battle, allowing players to pick up the base game for a cheaper cost if they wish.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is currently available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
