Blaster Master Zero has surpassed 100k sales combined between Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch, since its release in March of this year. Inti-Creates note that the milestone was reached in just under 5 months, and the company released a special wallpaper commemorating the occasion that fans can download on the company's official website. Of course, that's not the only Blaster Master Zero related news that the company had to share today!

The previously announced Blaster Master Zero Shovel Knight DLC as an extra character has released today and will be available for free download for the next 2 weeks. After those 2 weeks are up, much like the title's other DLC characters, he will cost $2 to download. Shovel Knight, like the other additional characters added to Blaster Master Zero, comes complete with his own unique controls, weapons, and overall gameplay. Shovel Knight joins ranks with other DLC characters such as Gunvolt from Inti-Creates own Azure Striker Gunvolt series, Ekoro from the Gal*Gun series, and Shantae from Wayforward's Shantae series. Inti-Creates included a batch of screenshots showcasing Shovel Knight dishing out his Shovel Justice in the game, which you can find near the bottom of the article.

Quick Take

Blaster Master Zero is definitely one of those titles that benefited from an early release on the Nintendo Switch - it was even a launch title in Japan - and it's great to see it doing well 5 months later. As far as I'm concerned, the title is something that absolutely every Switch owner should have in their library, and the folks at Inti-Creates have been doing a great job to continue supporting the title since launch. Even if you've missed some of the character DLCs when they were free (like I did), the changes that each character brings to the game makes them easily worth the $2 price tag and then some.
