Blaster Master Zero Update

On May 3 developer Inti Creates released the 1.2 update for Blaster Master Zero which added two new modes to the game: Destroyer and EX Character.

Destroyer mode is basically an insanely difficult hard mode for Blaster Master Zero. You can only access the new Destroyer mode after beating the game. Destroyer mode makes adds new changes to the game to force you to play more methodically and think through your actions much more than you would on the normal difficulty. Some of the changes include:

  • Life Up items have no effect.
  • The Energy Guard item has no effect (forcing you to be much more careful to keep your Gun Level up).
  • Certain gun modes won't affect certain enemies, so you'll have to choose the right mode for enemies to deal damage.
  • When enemies get destroyed on the side view maps they will shoot out bullets that fly toward you.
  • Jason and SOPHIA III get a color change.
If you've already beaten the game Destroyer mode offers some replayability for the game if you like a challenge.

The other new mode being added in the 1.2 update is EX Character Mode. This mode will allow you to play through the game as one of many DLC characters. All DLC characters will be free to download for the first two weeks of their release, before being set at $1.99 on the Nintendo eShop. The first two DLC characters are Gunvolt from Azure Striker Gunvolt and Ekoro from the Gal*Gun series. Gunvolt will be available starting May 4, and Ekoro will release on June 1.

Every new DLC will come with their own unique weapons and abilities to use throughout the game. Gunvolt uses electricity-based abilities such as "Flashfield" and "Prevasion", and Ekoro dual-wields her "Desert Angels" and other angelic weapons.

If you haven't picked up Blaster Master Zero yet, now would be a great time to try out the demo to see if you like it, so you can make sure you take advantage of the "free" window the DLC characters each get. Blaster Master Zero is available for both the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch.

What do you think about the new modes being added? What DLC characters would you like to see in the game next? Lets us know in the comments!
