Capcom has announced that Blanka, one of the most iconic characters in Street Fighter history, will officially join the Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition roster as its latest DLC fighter on Tuesday, February 20.

Blanka’s Street Fighter 5 iteration will be one of the new DLC fighters included in the Season 3 Character Pass which launched alongside the game’s recent Arcade Edition update. The Season 3 pass costs $29.99 and those who’d rather just buy Blanka on his own will be able to do so for either $5.99 or 100,000 Fight Money (in-game currency).

According to this new post on the Capcom Unity blog, Blanka will be able to sport four different costumes: his default look, a ‘Nostalgia’ look based off his classic Street Fighter 2 appearance, a sleek-looking Battle Costume that dresses him up as an Aztec warrior, and an adorable-looking Story costume which ties into his new Story mode chapter, a synopsis of which you can find below:

“In Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, Blanka is living peacefully with his mother, and has adapted well to being introduced back into society. One day, a suspicious salesman approaches him and offers a way to make Blanka famous by mass producing a doll made in Blanka’s likeness. Will it work? Find out in his character story mode!”

The Capcom Unity post also contains detailed information on Blanka’s unique ‘Coward Crouch’ V-Skill, ‘Jungle Dynamo’ and ‘Lightning Beast’ V-Triggers, and ‘Dynamic Rolling’ Critical Art.

Ever since he was originally introduced in the 1991 title Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior, Blanka has gone on to become an instantly recognizable face in both the Street Fighter scene and the larger gaming community, mainly thanks to his green skin, beast-like appearance, and penchant for electricity-based special moves. With that in mind, fans have wondered why it took Capcom so long to bring Blanka into Street Fighter 5, but hey, better late than never.

The Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition Season 3 Character Pass grants free access to six new DLC fighters in total. Along with the currently available Sakura and upcoming Blanka, the pass will allow owners to play as Falke, Sagat, G, and Cody as they are released throughout the rest of 2018.
