The Blacksad release date has been pushed back to early November just a few short days after the first release date of September 26, 2019, was announced. Blacksad: Under the Skin is an upcoming original story set in the unique world of this French comic.
Blacksad: Under the Skin was originally slated to come out on September 26, 2019, but the developers have since seen fit to push things back and announced a new release date of November 5, 2019.
A news post on the game's Steam Community page explains that the developers are going to be using the extra few days to do a bit more polish on this upcoming title prior to the new Blacksad release date. Ultimately, their core goal is to "deliver the best possible experience for players".
Set in a version of 1950s America with anthropomorphic animals, this comic tells a classic hard-boiled detective story. The series originally kicked off in 2000 with Juan Diaz Canales handling the writing, Juanjo Guarnido providing the art, and French publisher Dargaud publishing the physical books. Five volumes of the comic have been published in total with Dark Horse collecting the first three in a single book simply titled Blacksad.
Blacksad: Under the Skin is set in the same world as these comics, although it's a new original story. A boxing club owner named Joe Dunn is found dead and future boxing star Bobby Yale has disappeared. Joe's daughter has taken over the gym and hired private detective John Blacksad to investigate her father's disappearance. The game will include puzzles, investigations, quick-time events, and choices made throughout the narrative.
