Dyskami Publishing Company just announced that they've once again partnered with Vampire: The Masquerade publishers White Wolf Entertainment to produce a new, fourth edition of the cult-favorite (and incredibly-named) anime tabletop roleplaying game Big Eyes, Small Mouth. This newest edition is being produced by Mark MacKinnon, the original creator of the game and founder of Dyskami Publishing Company.

MacKinnon is quoted in the press release saying that the new edition has been under development for many years, and that this new release will be a chance to update the game's design and presentation for modern gamers, but that it still "hearkens back to the roots of earlier editions." The third edition of the game was originally published in 2007, so this update is a long time coming.

While there are no details yet on how the rules will be changed to better suit today's market, the original system offered incredible flexibility for players and Game Masters alike. Essentially, any genre of anime or manga could be recreated in the system, with the Game Master deciding the setting before players began character construction.

The GM could also control the scope of the power of the game by setting a power level of "character points" for players to use to create their characters. For instance, if players wanted to take on the role of students without any real superpowers, investigating strange occurrences in their hometown, the GM would keep a low character point cap and the players would use what they had to "buy" points for their characters. But if players wanted to play flying, kai-energy blasting golden-haired wunderkind, the GM could significantly bump up the point cap to accommodate.

We don't yet have a specific release date for the new game, but the press release does state that 2019 is going to be a great year for anime and gaming fans, so it may be safe to assume we'll see the game before the end of the year.

If you're looking for another experience from Dyskami, they recently announced they are partnering with Japanime Games to bring Sailor Moon board games to western markets.
