Betway is one of the premier online betting services anywhere, focusing mostly on sports. Now they have ventured into eSports. While that is interesting in and of itself, some of the bets you can place are even more interesting.

First, Betway is the first, large betting service to test the waters with eSports. There have been services directly created for eSports, sure, but one of the big mainstays getting in on it should be an interesting sign for eSports' future.

That future is something Betway seems to believe is incredibly bright, which is best seen in their "special" bets. There you can bet on odds that Hearthstone will be part of the 2030 Winter Olympics as an official sport. The odds aren't that bad either, considering, at 99/1Heroes of the Storm has the same odds too.  Others even have better odds with Dota 2 and League of Legends at 79/1 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive sitting at 49/1.

Optimistic for sure.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Alan Alger of Betway gives some insight into why they are so optimistic:

Hearthstone has well over 30 million players and is a growing force in eSports. There are many Winter Olympic sports that don't have participation figures of even a 10th of Hearthstone's.

To become an Olympic sport, a sport needs to be 'widely practiced in no fewer than 40 countries and on three continents' according to the Olympic Charter. Hearthstone ticks both boxes with ease.

We feel that Hearthstone to be part of the 2030 Winter Olympics isn't out of the question, in fact odds of 99/1 are probably far too generous.

As of now, Betway offers the opportunity to bet on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, League of Legends, World of Tanks, and Starcraft II. Will you be betting on eSports? Do those adds seem optimistic or are they realistic? What sort of hurdles need to be jumped first before we can consider seeking eSports as part of the Winter Olympics?
