Betrayal At Baldur’s Gate, a tabletop game set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting of Dungeons & Dragons and based on the ruleset of Betrayal at House on the Hill, has been announced according to a press release.
Gameplay will be heavily based on that of Betrayal at House on the Hill. In this particular game, players explore a haunted mansion and must move through it trying to complete an adventure while they gradually reveal new rooms. At some point, one of the party will betray their companions and join forces with the dark forces that are after them. Design of Betrayal At Baldur’s Gate is being led by Mark Mearls and the Wizards of the Coast Team, and the game itself is (unsurprisingly) being produced by Avalon Hill.
The game’s box will have (among other things) 50 scenarios set in Forgotten Realms, 47 location tiles, and 86 cards including 22 items, 45 events, and 13 omens. 18 new monsters will be available to challenge players, and the players themselves can select from 12 D&D adventurers such as a Dwarf Barbarian or a Half-Orc Paladin.
If you’d like to see what the game looks like up close, you should know that Betrayal At Baldur’s Gate will be making a showing at Origins Game Fair which runs from June 14-18, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio. A limited number of seats for interested players will be available on a first come, first serve basis in the Dungeons & Dragons gaming area on the 3rd floor of the Hyatt hotel. Betrayal At Baldur’s Gate is expected to be available to the wider public on October 6, 2017.
