Bethesda announced during its E3 2017 press conference that the Quake World Championship will take place this year on August 26th at QuakeCon in Dallas, Texas. The publisher also revealed that B.J. Blazkowitz will be playable in Quake Champions. Blazkowitz is the main character from the Wolfenstein series, and in Quake Champions, his character has the ability to duel-wield any weapon in the game.

The announcements came in the form of a brief trailer showing gameplay from Quake Champions and some commentary from E-Sports gamers.

Check out the trailer below:

The prize pool for the Quake World Championship will be one million dollars.

Besides the additional of B.J. Blazkowicz, Bethesda is also adding some other content to the Quake Champions beta. The E3 2017 update adds 3 new maps and the brand-new Tri-bolt weapon. According to a post on Bethesda's website, two of the maps are Duel-specific maps, while the other map can be played in both the Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes.

Bethesda also revealed in their YouTube channel that the Quake Champions beta will now be open 24/7 and that all you have to do to get into the beta is apply for a key here.
