[Updated] Bethesda E3 2016 - Quake Champions Announced

Opening the Bethesda conference at this years E3, today we were given an announcement trailer for id software's Quake Champions.

The conference showed off a CGI teaser of the arena based shooter, with creative director and former co-owner of id Software Tim Willits providing us the details on the upcoming title. With no gameplay footage, Willits provided us some information on how the title will run, and reassured the audience that much like the previous titles, Quake Champions will be a fast game. 

We know that high end performance is critical for this type of game. So be assured, as with any id software game, that Quake Champions will be fast with graphics running at 120hz, and unlocked framerates." - Tim Willits, E3 2016 Bethesda Conference

Taking heavy inspiration from Quake III Arena, Quake Champions will feature a diverse cast of warriors, packed with unique abilities and character attributes. In accordance to Willits, Quake Champions will be designed for the sole purpose competitive multiplayer and esports tournaments. While there is no exact date as of yet, Bethesda said that on launch, Quake Champions will be supported by esports tournaments all around the globe.

More information is said to be announced at this years Quakecon. Set in Dallas Texas, Quakecon is a yearly convention held by ZeniMax Media and is used to help promote the major franchises of id Software. This year, Quakecon will take place between August 4th to 7th.

While there no details about a console versions, Quake Champions is currently slated for a PC release. We will continue to monitor our coverage within the coming months.
