Did you know that South Park: The Fractured But Whole was not the game's original name? And no, it wasn't South Park: RPG 2 or something like that.

Nope, instead it was originally South Park: The Butthole of Time according to a new video released by Ubisoft which had Matt and Trey discussing the upcoming game. The game's name was changed when marketing told them that retailers wouldn't stock a game with the word butthole in the title, and so they came up with the current name in classic South Park fashion to get exactly what they wanted past the radar.

Series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker also shared some of where they got some of the feedback from the game, PewDiePie's South Park: The Stick of Truth let's play. Watching that they noticed what he thought worked, and what was noted as 'lame'.

Another point brought up by Ubisoft producers was the challenge in adapting and working with the type of style Matt and Trey use making South Park the show to making a game. They have to elongate the process that the South Park team normally uses for creation to make it work with a game given that Matt and Trey normally go from nothing to a full episode in just 6 days. Making matters more of a challenge is that Trey likes to try out new things and change them around, sometimes stressing the production lines in game making as things go through multiple teams. The discussion continued with the way they create things for the game series, especially on how they handle making the art feel like it matches the show's look and feel.

While discussing the combat, Matt explained that part of the reason why they went with a turn-based combat system was for comedic timing. Their goal with Fractured But Whole has been to upgrade the combat to 2.0 with more options, more tactics, and generally a more robust system. The video expands that players will be able to pick which characters, and thus heroes in the game accompany them in combat. One of their big goals has been to do something with a game that they couldn't do with a show or movie.
