Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled

Players who are interested in Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled’s single-player mode got some welcome news Thursday, with the return of the renowned Adventure Mode from the original CTR. Beenox co-studio head Thomas Wilson took to Playstation’s official blog to announce Beenox's newest enhancements for the single-player experience.

Wilson indicates that in restoring the Adventure Mode, Beenox didn't plan on reinventing the wheel. All of the original campaign elements are present, including trophy races, boss races, relic races, token races, and gem cups. The previous starting lineup characters are also back, such as Crash, Coco, Cortex, and Polar as well as new optional characters like Ripper Roo and Pinstripe Pontoroo.

However, Beenox isn’t simply leaning on nostalgia with the new mode. There will be additional extras included exclusively for CTR: Nitro-Fueled. Rewards are plentiful, as players will receive new unique content for every race won, such as new different kart parts, character skins, and kart customization items. A boss victory also automatically results in the player securing the defeated character, including the opportunity to land Nitros Oxide himself through what promises to be a hard-fought contest.

Additionally, Adventure Mode is offering more robust customization options, which lets players make changes to any racer, kart, or customization item that they have already unlocked. Also, in addition to new intros and victory cinematics for boss battles, hub worlds are promised to be even more detailed than in previous entries. Wilson explained that Beenox is providing this new content to allow each player their own distinct gameplay experience.

Another option provided for fans single-player mode actually offers them two ways in which to play – Classic or Nitro-Fueled. While both settings provide racers with the same range of reward items, Classic cuts out the customization, restricting any changes to the racer or kart during Adventure Mode.

Wilson emphasized that players still have a lot to look forward to in the core gameplay.  “We’re super excited about everything you can now earn in the Adventure Mode, but it’s important to emphasize that the story and a great single-player experience are still at the heart of it,” he said in the blog.

Beenox is promising an exhilarating and immersive experience for CTR: Nitro Fueled enthusiasts, who can grab the game’s enhanced version June 21 on the PlayStation 4.
