Excalibur Games have announced their new VR experience, Craft Keep VR, coming to Steam Early Access on the 10th of November. In the past, Excalibur has released titles such as Jalopy, Circuit Breakers, and Shoppe Keep (which takes place in the same world), with most of those coming out in the past year.
In Craft Keep VR you get to take up the mantle of blacksmith in a world filled with knights, princess, and even dragons. You will have customers approach you with certain requests, these might be crafting a new sword or concocting a potion. In addition to creating weapons, you will also be tasked with repairing broken weapons, enchant items and brewing potions. After you’ve created a new weapon you don’t have to hand it over to the client immediately, there’s always some room for a little fun. With the HTC Vive’s room tracking and VR motion controls you can walk around your shop, use your hammer, and assemble pieces together to help arm your clients for any battle they might face.
Craft Keep VR is part of the same world as a previous title from Excalibur games called Shoppe Keep, where the player runs a general store. Shoppe Keep will also be receiving an update around the release of Craft Keep VR, there is no word as of yet what will be included in that update, however.
Excalibur is also currently toying with the idea of local multiplayer where one player is working in VR and the other player uses the standard keyboard and mouse. As of yet, they are not sure what they want the second player to be doing so are asking the general public to let them know of any good ideas.
The game is intended to be in Early Access for 4-6 months and will at launch include a tutorial and free play mode, which currently features over 1200 swords in the game to craft. Throughout Early Access they will be adding the story mode, which is planned to consist of 7 chapters.
Craft Keep VR launches on the 10th of November on Steam into Early Access and requires the HTC Vive.
