Infectonator 3: Apocalypse will be launching on Steam May 10th, developer Toge Productions and publisher Armor Games Studios have confirmed.

The arcade-slash-sim hybrid will be the first in the core Infectonator series to be available for purchase on Steam (a roguelike spinoff, Infectonator: Survivors, is also available via the platform). A trailer for the game first appeared back in November 2017, where its "campy sense of humor and parody" was shown off, as well as some of the game's mechanics. Check out the trailer for Infectonator 3: Apocalypse here:

The newest installment in the Infectonator franchise continues the series' mixture of arcade-style action and light sim elements. Players control an undead army, with the eventual goal of "[destroying] every country in the world". Each stage begins by dropping a virus into a populated area, creating new zombie troops, then using the resources gained through this process to unlock upgrades and improvements. DNA can be earned by destroying countries, which then goes towards unlocking more powerful troop types. Difficulty increases as the game progress' as enemy humans will work harder to research cures for the player's zombie plague, as well as fighting harder against the undead army.

Indonesia-based developer Toge Productions describes Infectonator 3: Apocalypse as "a campy, crazy pixelart zombie apocalypse arcade sim where you're the bad guy". Here's a quick rundown of some of the features players can expect from this third installment:

  • Over 35 zombie types to discover: players can use DNA splicing to unlock new variants of zombie, from common walkers to brain parasites
  • A fusion of classic and modern art styles: Infectonator 3: Apocalypse sports retro-inspired pixel art with a modern hi-res twist
  • Over 200 levels: players can use the environment to their advantage in over 200 levels by locking and unlocking doors, blowing up walls and more
  • Randomised elements: replay value is increased by randomized mutations, events, and locations, making each play session unique
You can check out all these features and more when Infectonator 3: Apocalypse launches on Steam May 10th for 12.99.
