If you’re a fan of trashing toasters with the Colonial Fleet, some good news has been released: a new game titled Battlestar Galactica Deadlock (developed by Black Lab Games and published by Slitherine Ltd.) has been announced according to a press release.

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock will be a strategy game set during the First Cylon War. It will feature a cast of characters, mixing well-known personalities from the television series with new characters created especially for this game. Players will be stationed at the Daidalos Shipyard and command the entire Colonial fleet from there in full 3-D battles that can be paused at any time. As for the ships, you can expect to see the series staples: Vipers, Raptors, and the titular Battlestars, as well as Cylon Basestars and Raiders on the opposing side. A range of new ships have been created for the game as well such as the Manticore corvette.

Players will be able to design and build their Toaster-busting fleets. Blueprints for new ships, munitions, and squadrons can be unlocked in the course of gameplay. Aside from the 3-D space battles, players will also have to make use of Colonial Marines to repel boarders. Cylons being Cylons, will also attack on the digital front as well. It wouldn’t be Battlestar Galactica without politics playing a factor, and you’ll have to carefully balance the alliance of the tweleve colonies to present a unified front to your robotic opponents.

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock will release sometime this summer on Steam for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. PC players can sign up for a beta via the game’s official website. And finally, if you’d like to add the game to your Steam wishlist you can check out the Steam store page here.

What do you think of Battlestar Galactica Deadlock? Do you think a strategy game is the best venue for exploring this particular universe? What do you hope to see in this game? Let us know in the comments below!

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
