Firestorm, the battle royale mode for Battlefield V, finally has itself a release date.

The mode will be added via free update on March 25th across all platforms. Firestorm will take place on Halvoy, a new map EA and DICE have created solely for the mode. It's set to be the biggest map ever in a Battlefield game, with EA claiming it's around 10 times the size of Battlefield V's current largest map Hamada. EA is promising varied terrain on Halvoy, ranging from snowy mountains to waterfronts.

The official Firestorm website offers a few more details about the mode. Firestorm will consist of "Objectives," which players must battle for in order to secure victory. Once Objectives are claimed, players can earn perks and extra equipment, including airstrikes and tanks. EA promises 17 different types of vehicles in Firestorm, from tanks to cannons and helicopters. Once Firestorm has been released, a Duos mode will follow in April as part of Battlefield V's ongoing "Chapters." Battlefield V's battle royale mode will also allow players to revive one another in a similar way to EA and Respawn's Apex Legends.

EA and DICE have also released a trailer showing off some of Firestorm's geography and gameplay. Check out the trailer here:

We're not sure what else will be added to Firestorm over the coming weeks and months. EA has been pretty diligent with content updates to Battlefield V, so it's safe to assume Firestorm will look very different in a few months. Until then, you can download the battle royale mode on March 25th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Battlefield V is the fifth mainline installment in the Battlefield series. The game is a return to the World War II setting of early Battlefield titles and continues the episodic War Stories campaign style of its predecessor. You can check out what TechRaptor thought of Battlefield V right here.
