Batman: Return to Arkhaman HD Collection combining Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, has been delayed according to a post by WB’s Steve Grayson.

Batman: Return to Arkham will not include Batman: Arkham Origins – it only covers the first two games created by RockSteady for the Arkham series as well as all the DLC released for them. Development on Batman: Return to Arkham is being handled by Virtuos, who have previously handled the HD remakes of Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, and Heavy Rain for the PlayStation 4. They have also created ports and companion apps such as the Injustice: Gods Among US Android version.

Batman: Return to Arkham was originally slated to launch on July 26th, 2016. The delay comes after the team at WB games reviewed the progress of the game’s development by Virtuos and came to the conclusion that they needed more time to “deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience”. WB Games has not set a new release date and stated that they will make an announcement when they have one. They’ve also asked their forum users to keep discussion of the topic to that one particular thread.

The existence of Batman: Return to Arkham originally surfaced thanks to a leaked screenshot. The game was officially announced by WB a little over a month after the leak.

The original two Batman games by Rocksteady were available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. It’s notable that this HD collection will not be available on PC like the previous titles it’s based on. Batman: Return to Arkham will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for $50 or your regional equivalent.

What do you think of the delay of Batman: Return to Arkham? Do you think that the delays are a bad sign of the game’s state or a smart move on the part of a company to put the best product out possible? Let us know in the comments below!

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!

They’ve got to feel embarrassed. Between Arkham Knight last year, and now delaying this, two games that have already come out before, is just bad for business. Not that most of it isn’t there own doing.

Good, the so called HD collection looked like crap compared to the original games. I hope they take as much time as they need to fix it.

  • Dindu Nuffin

It won’t contain Origins because the collection is just a lazy fucking PC rip and the PC version is STILL broken.

Also; Arkham Knight on PC was developed by the same devs that did the shitty PC port of Origins.

  • I dunno, I never see delaying a game as a bad thing. It means something is messed up and they’re taking the time to fix it.

Normally I’d agree with you, but this is a rerelease of two older games. The way it is, it just looks like a mess.

  • Well with graphical upgrades comes more problems. Remember how The Witcher 3 got a graphical downgrade? That’s because when they stuck that little pocket of land into an open world the framerate went to hell.

I imagine there’s a lot of fine-tuning and whatnot going on to get it to run well.
