The first DLC for Batman: Arkham Knight has finally received a release date of July 14th for those that have purchased the season pass and will be available for a standalone purchase on July 21st. It will be priced at £5.79 (around $9) on PSN and Xbox LIVE.  It is entitled Batgirl: A Matter of Family and takes place before the events of Arkham Asylum.

This is the first of the every-month DLC promised for Arkham Knight, is the first game in the Arkham series to allow players to play as Batgirl. A Matter of Family promises all new locations, multiple missions, side quests, secrets, a new hacking feature to go through the world and puzzles, and the ability to do dynamic takedowns together with Robin.

The Batgirl DLC was developed by WB Games Montreal, developers of Arkham Origins, using the engine built by Rocksteady.

The character of Barbara Gordon in Arkham Knight, who was Batgirl before her injury, was caught in a bit of controversy regarding her portrayal in the story. You can check out TechRaptor's Shaun Joy's discussion on how her character was stronger than many would think (WARNING: major spoilers).

The press release also mentioned that we can expect to see the PC version to return in the "coming weeks." The PC version has been mired in its own controversy to the point that it was removed from physical and digital shelves.  You can read all of the problems the PC version had before it was pulled here.

What are you all looking forward to doing as Batgirl? What differences do you expect to see in her style of gameplay? What do you think the DLC will feature primarily? Are you interested enough to purchase the DLC?
