What's better than a game set on Mars? How about a submarine game set on Jupiter's moon Europa? Now that's a way to mix things up. Fakefish, Undertow Games, and Daedalic Entertainment have teamed up to bring Barotrauma to Steam Early Access in just a few short weeks.

In Barotrauma, you and your crew have been sent to Europa, one of the many moons of Jupiter. Europa is well known for having a substantial amount of water on its surface, although what lies below the depths isn't that well known to mankind. This game takes the tantalizing mystery of that idea and runs with it, creating a fantastic sci-fi experience that will put some serious pressure on you. You'll be able to play this game for yourself when it comes to Steam Early Access on June 5, 2019.

Players command a crew of five distinct classes; you can choose to be a submarine captain, engineer, mechanic, medic, or security officer. This certainly isn't a one-man job and your survival will depend on the team's ability to work together. You'll have to manage, maintain, and repair the sub's internal systems — and you'll also have to occasionally go out into the water to make external repairs or collect some materials from the planet itself. All the while, you'll be dodging fearsome alien creatures of all shapes and sizes.

The fun doesn't stop there! Barotrauma will also feature a robust content creation tool, allowing talented individuals to create their own creatures and submarines. These creations can then be uploaded to the Steam Workshop to be shared by all. And you don't have to go it alone, either — the game allows for both singleplayer and multiplayer gameplay!

Barotrauma will be coming to Steam Early Access for PC, Mac, and Linux on June 5, 2019. No price has been announced. You can read more about the game over at its official website and you can see some of the game in action by watching the Barotrauma Feature Trailer below. In the meantime, why not add Barotrauma to your wishlist on Steam?
