Yoh Yoshinari’s anime Little Witch Academia is getting a video game based on the franchise. Bandai Namco is making an action adventure title featuring the characters and locations from the anime called Little Witch Academia: The Witch of Time and the Seven Wonders. The new game is expected for PlayStation 4 in Japan within the year.

Little Witch Academia got its start as a short film directed by Yoshinari and written by Masahiko Otsuka in 2013. Later a sequel short film called Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade was partially funded through Kickstarter and was released in 2015. The popularity of the short films spurred a television and manga series and brought the films to viewers around the world via Youtube and Netflix. The new television series will be coming to Netflix as well on June 30, 2017.

The series is focused around a young girl named Atsuko “Akko” Kagari who is enamored with witchcraft but doesn’t come from a magical background and so struggles to learn the magical art. She attends a prestigious academy for young witches called Luna Nova Magical Academy where she befriends fellow witches and together they hone their skills and go on little adventures. It is at Luna Nova Magical Academy where the new game will take place.

Featuring an all new story, Little Witch Academia: The Witch of Time and the Seven Wonders will have Akko and other familiar characters exploring Luna Nova Magical Academy and discovering its seven wonders. The game is produced in 3D with CG animations that will appear during battle scenes and captures the look of the anime.
