Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is likely on the way after the Australian Classifications Board listed it on its website.
The Australian Classifications Board – like the ESRB – give an age rating according to content. Also, like the ESRB, they list these on their website, although sometimes they this happens without the actual title being announced.
The listing says Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is created by Rebellion and published by 505 Games, which would be correct. The game received a MA 15+ rating due to its violence, language, and nudity (although I don’t remember that from the game).
This is very likely legitimate, and it would not be the first time that the board has leaked games. In 2013, the board rated a Pacific Rim fighting game In 2014, the classifications board leaked an upcoming localization for the Attack on Titan title developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Atlas. Then earlier this year, the board also leaked Hitman: Sniper Assassin, a pre-order bonus for Hitman 2.
This comes as no surprise, because ratings boards – especially Australia’s – are known to leak titles. It will be interesting to see what becomes of Sniper Elite V2 Remastered since the game is just old enough and popular enough that it would merit the remastered treatment.
It’s a shame things have to be leaked, but consider me excited for this one. I’m a fan of the Sniper Elite series, especially this title. It’s not that bad looking of a game despite coming out in 2012, but if they can give it a good polish and refine it a bit, I might give it a revisit. I just hope that they don’t get too lazy with it. Dark Souls: Remastered is still an excellent title, but it’s improvements over the original are very poor.
