The Astroneer Lunar Update is here and it pays tribute to man's first steps on the moon with a special limited-time event. What's more, the game is also adding a few new things for intrepid players to build!

In Astroneer, you're plopped down onto an Earthlike planet with a terrain-deforming tool, a simple base, and not much else. From there, you must gather the resources needed to establish infrastructure and eventually head out to other worlds in the solar system! As you work your way through the game, you'll encounter dangerous plants, environmental hazards, and a mystery buried deep below the world.

The game has gotten a bit of a boost in content with the Astroneer Lunar Update. To start, a replica of the Apollo 11 lander will now appear on Desolo (the moon) for a limited time. Visiting the rover will score you a unique spacesuit, so don't delay!

That's not all that's being added in this patch, though. Players can now also build several new objects:

  • Medium T-Platform
  • Large T-Platform
  • Large Storage Silo A
  • Large Storage Silo B

These new goodies should give players a few more ways to sort and organize all of the various gubbins they've collected in their time with Astroneer so far. Several other quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and small changes have also made their way into the game with this patch; make sure to read the full patch notes on the game's Steam Community news page to get all of the fine details.

If you don't yet already own Astroneer, you can pick it up for $22.49 or your regional equivalent on Steam (a 25% discount off of its normal retail price of $29.99) or on the Humble Store at full price. Console players can enjoy the same discount on the Microsoft Store for the Xbox One version of the game. Make sure to check out the Astroneer Lunar Update trailer below!
