Assassin's Creed Origins launched back in October to quite a few positive reviews, including one from us. Ubisoft appears to be interested in keeping the game fresh for players and has detailed a list of free new features coming to the already massive game this month, based on the list of post-launch content they had previously announced.

The biggest addition is in the form of two new quests. The first is titled "Here Comes a New Challenger", a level 32 quest that will introduce the all-new Hoard mode being added to the game. While there are not many details currently on what you'll be doing in hoard mode other than fighting endless waves of enemies, it is an addition that will allow you to play with the game's combat system. The second new quest is simply described as "a new surprise quest". Ubisoft only provided a single gif of what it may be, and it appears to be the rear end of a Chocobo, made popular by the Final Fantasy series. Considering Final Fantasy XV had a large Assassin's Creed Origins-themed quest, maybe Ubisoft will be returning the favor?

Additionally, some new difficulty options will be available for the game. Nightmare mode will serve as a difficulty even harder than the game's hard mode, giving you a new challenge with stronger enemies. In addition to this, you can now enable level scaling, which will bump lower leveled enemies to be the same level as you, meaning you no longer need to worry about wandering into an area and hilariously overpowering everything with little effort.

Another big addition comes in the form of adding the third and final Trials of the Gods to the game, a fight against warrior goddess Sekhmet. In addition to this, Ubisoft noted that they already had offered fights against Anubis and Sobek back in November, but many players missed the chance to fight them. So those two gods will be readded to the game, allowing you another go at them.

Finally, a pair of item packs are being added to the game that can be bought through the in-game store. The first pack, which will be added on December 12th, is called the Gladiator Items Pack. It contains an armor set, a shield, and three new gladiator-based weapons. The second item pack is the Wacky Items Pack and will release December 26th. Ubisoft hasn't been specific about what's in this pack other than "a mount and four weapons" and that it will "be a perfect fit for the bath towel outfit". In addition to this, the Nightmare Pack and First Civilization Pack items will be added to the Heka chest so you can earn them in-game instead of having to buy them.
