Giant survival MMO ARK: Survival Evolved is making its way to Nintendo Switch, Studio Wildcard announced at GDC 2018 today. The news was revealed during Epic Games’ “State of Unreal” presentation, in which the game was shown running on the device. ARK: Survival Evolved will launch this Fall, both digitally and at retail.
Speaking in a press release, Jeremy Stieglitz, the game’s lead, commented on why the Nintendo Switch is a good fit for the game:
"With this new version, Switch players can go directly from hunting and taming while sitting on the couch, to forming online tribes and searching out new conquests when on the bus, waiting in line, or wherever they happen to be.”
The press release went on to reveal that the Nintendo Switch version of the game is being developed in conjunction with partner studio Abstraction Games, who previously headed up the PlayStation 4 port.
The studio also broke the news that its partner, War Drum Studios, creators of the ARK: Survival Evolved mobile game, had started to invite players into the first wave of beta testing.

ARK: Survival Evolved drops players onto an island with nothing but their bare hands to survive. There are dinosaurs, environmental hazards and other players to contend with so making good use of every resource is the key to success. The game features extensive crafting mechanics, allowing players to build their own bases to improve their chances of survival. After a lengthy beta period, the game finally launched Aug 29 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
