For those who have the sixth generation of Pokémon titles - the Nintendo 3DS titles X, Y, OmegaRuby, and AlphaSapphire - two new distributions of event-exclusive Pokémon have begun; the fourth generation Arceus, and the fifth generation Meloetta.
Originally available from August 01, 2016 to August 24, 2016, the Normal-type "Alpha Pokémon" Arceus was distributed as part of Nintendo's celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, alongside other "event exclusive" Pokémon such as Mew, Celebii, and the recent Genesect.
To claim your Arceus, you'll need to go to the "Get With Code" option in the Mystery Gift menu and enter your region specific code. For North American players this code is ARCEUS20, and for European players the code is ARCEUS2016. This distribution runs from December 01, 2016 to December 31, 2016, and is only available for save files that haven't already received the August Arceus distribution.
In addition to the Arceus distribution, the Normal/Psychic (Normal/Fighting in Pirouette Forme) "Melody Pokémon" Meloetta has begun distribution in North America, Europe, and Australia, and is claimed through the "Get Via Internet" option in the Mystery Gift menu. Meloetta will be the final distribution for the twentieth anniversary of the franchise, and with the seventh generation titles Sun and Moon now available worldwide, may well be the last distribution for the sixth generation titles. The Meloetta distribution runs from December 01, 2016 to December 24, 2016.

Sad to see the event distributions for the twentieth anniversary done already. My only complaint was in having some of the distributions done with serial codes, instead of doing everything over the Nintendo Network - I think that would have worked better for players, as there were a few times I went into GameStop to get codes and they were completely out of codes.
