Fans of Apex Legends have been asking for a solos mode since launch and now they're finally getting one. Developer, Respawn Entertainment, teased an upcoming event on Twitter called the Iron Crown Collection. This event will run for two weeks and all we know so far is that it has a solos mode included.

The Iron Crown Collection runs from August 13 to August 27, allowing a temporary look at what a solos mode in Apex Legends is like. The tweet announcing the event has a short 25-second video featuring different legends from the game and the date for the event. Alongside the announcement, the Community Manager at Respawn, Jay Frechette, posted a thread about the event in the Apex Legends subreddit.

Frechette mentioned they will talk more about solos once the event is live and after they have gotten some feedback on it,

"On 8/13 we'll be trying out a Solos Mode in Apex for a limited time. We'll talk more about Solos when it's live and you've had a chance to play it. For now we're going to put it out there and see what happens and what kind of feedback we get."

TechRaptor has contacted the EA public relations representative for Apex Legends for further information on the event.

Are you excited for solos in the Iron Crown Collection event or are you still waiting for duos? Why not both?

Update

The EA PR representative got back to us that they're keeping quiet until next week when the event goes live, similar to what the Community Manager said.

Quick Take

It's interesting reading the comments on the subreddit thread from the community manager. People are applauding Respawn Entertainment for taking feedback, while still being worried about too much feedback becoming an issue. I always look at the downfall of another battle royale game, The Culling, partially due to listening to too much feedback.

It had a large community that had built a decent audience from streamers as well. It suffered from constant updates that changed how the game played significantly. I can't imagine Respawn is going to completely change how Apex Legends works to suit this mode, but I'd be curious to see what they come up with. It could be a smaller map, different spawn rates, balance changes specifically for solos, etc. Whatever the Iron Crown Collection event is, it's certainly a beta test of solos and how they can make it work. Less about if it will work I would imagine.
